Lead generation is the process of gaining the interest of potential customers in order to increase future sales. It’s a strategic marketing process that involves gathering data and then converting that information into leads.
The idea behind lead generation is simple: you want to gain as many new customers as possible, so you need to entice them with something they want. In order to do this, you should have a solid understanding of your target market and know what they’re looking for from a business standpoint. Lead generation can be used in a variety of ways:
Newsletters – The most basic form of lead generation is sending out an email newsletter that includes industry news and offers relevant to your company’s target audience. These newsletters can be customized based on the information you’ve gathered on your customers’ wants and needs.
Sales emails – Another way to collect leads is through sales emails—or “lead nurturing” emails—that are sent periodically throughout the year when you have new products or services available for sale. These can include special pricing offers, discounts on previous purchases or other incentives designed to encourage people to sign up for your mailing list.
Display ads – Display ads are another way to advertise your products or services without having to pay for a full-blown ad campaign during television time slots where others advertise their services as well (which can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars).
