Uniform Resource Locator or URL
The Uniform Resource Locator (URL) is a unique text string that users enter into a browser’s address bar to access a website; for example, www.redblink.com.
Typically, a URL is composed of four parts:
- The protocol;
- The domain name;
- The folder;
- The page.
In terms of SEO, it is recommended to:
- Create readable and easily understandable URLs;
- Prefer hyphens to underscores in URLs;
- Develop a simple and concise domain name to facilitate its memorization;
- Choose a domain name that logically reflects the site’s content in a few words;
- Insert keywords for better indexing.
