Uniform Resource Locator or URL

The Uniform Resource Locator (URL) is a unique text string that users enter into a browser’s address bar to access a website; for example, www.redblink.com.

Typically, a URL is composed of four parts:

  1. The protocol;
  2. The domain name;
  3. The folder;
  4. The page.

In terms of SEO, it is recommended to:

  • Create readable and easily understandable URLs;
  • Prefer hyphens to underscores in URLs;
  • Develop a simple and concise domain name to facilitate its memorization;
  • Choose a domain name that logically reflects the site’s content in a few words;
  • Insert keywords for better indexing.
